Empowering Clinicians Through Ultrasound
At GHCC, we believe that access to life-saving diagnostic skills shouldn't depend on geography. We train emergency medicine residents and clinicians across Africa in point-of-care ultrasound; from beginner fundamentals to advanced echocardiography and ultrasound-guided line placement. Our programs combine hands-on simulation with lecture-based learning, meeting clinicians where they are. Through our train-the-trainer model, the institutions we partner with gain the capacity to keep teaching long after we leave, creating a lasting ripple of expertise across their region. We've brought this work to Accra and Kumasi, Ghana, and Gaborone, Botswana, and we're just getting started.
Our Partners
-
At Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, one of Africa's largest clinical institutions, we deliver hands-on point-of-care ultrasound training to clinicians at the frontlines of patient care. Korle Bu is home to one of only two emergency medicine residencies in all of Ghana. Our program equips physicians, nurses, and trainees with practical POCUS skills that enhance diagnostic accuracy and speed at the bedside.
-
Our partnership with 37 Military Hospital spans a broad range of clinical education programs. Alongside our flagship point-of-care ultrasound training, we deliver courses across surgery, nursing, and radiology, equipping clinical teams with skills that translate directly to improved patient care in this high-volume referral setting.
-
Through our partnership with the University of Ghana, we integrate point-of-care ultrasound training into the medical education pipeline, reaching students and faculty at one of West Africa's foremost academic institutions. To sustain this work beyond the classroom, we have donated Butterfly ultrasound devices to the university — ensuring that trainees have direct, ongoing access to the tools they need to build lasting POCUS proficiency.
-
The University of Botswana is our newest collaborative partner. Our partnership extends point-of-care ultrasound training into Southern Africa, supporting the country’s only Emergency Medicine Residency. Together, we are building a growing network of POCUS-trained clinicians equipped to deliver better care in resource-varied settings.
